rapeseed oil

Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil.

Our Oilseed Rape is grown, harvested, stored, cold-pressed, filtered and bottled in the UK. This gives you 100% traceability, which helps us to keep down food miles. And just as importantly, it helps our UK farming community, and in particular one farmer, George and his family in Cambridgeshire, who grows all yellowdot's rapeseed crop. And naturally you can be assured of British quality standards wherever you see the red tractor logo, which indicates George's highly respected Assured Farm Standards.

Now here’s the science bit... Click here to read on.

Exactly like olive oil, the rapeseed oil is gently squeezed out at low temperatures, this is called cold pressing. The seeds are simply crushed in a press so that it releases its oil without any of the heat treatments, solvents or anti-frothing agents that may be used in the processing of refined oils. This allows the oil to retain its vitamins and high levels of Omega 3 and 6, all its antioxidants properties, in fact, all its natural goodness. Surprised?

Well here’s something more surprising, olive oil as you know is healthy, but now there is a real alternative, and it’s home grown. Rapeseed oil contains half the saturated fat levels of olive oil, has 10 times more Omega 3 than olive oil, has a high burn point so is safe to use for deep-frying and roasting, and its natural nutty flavour makes it ideal for salad dressings & marinades.

Other benefits include a good source of vitamin E. Trans-fat and gluten-free. It’s suitable for vegetarians, and is Kosher and Halal friendly.

All in all, rapeseed provides you with a versatile oil that will enhance the kitchen of both the food lover and the health conscious.
